The procedure, considered
Breast reduction removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to create a lighter, more proportionate breast shape. For many patients, the change is as functional as it is aesthetic—easing the physical burden associated with very large, pendulous breasts.

The procedure
Excess tissue, fat, and skin are removed; the remaining breast is reshaped and elevated. The nipple and areola are repositioned, and an enlarged areola may be reduced for balance.
Recovery
Dressings are commonly removed the following day and replaced with a supportive surgical bra. Most sutures dissolve. Discomfort is often most noticeable during the first few days and is managed with prescribed medication.
